Still Saving For That Camera

Hm got a little bit more than half the money for the 30d. Now to get the rest because the parentals are procrastinating on getting me that.

1. I’m cutting back on the expenses of unnessacary stuff [who needs that cool band calendar I wanted that i have 5 of already, or that keychain that says I love the earth]

2. I’m saving even the small change in a piggy bank.

3. Spend mostly on lunch, some clothes, and cheap camera gear [tripod and lens cleaner fluid]

4. Split stuff [I'll split the cost of that photobooth picture, I'll split that pasta with my best friends]

I. Want. My. Camera.

Hm Which school is better for learning Commercial/Fashion Photography?? [in NYC]

I’ve heard good things about FIT and Parsons in NYC. The curriculum in FIT Photo Department sounds exciting to me, But Parsons has a better reputation in the Fashion world. Opinions?

How do you Organize your Photos?

I save all of the shots that are pretty much acceptable [no blur, dust marks, etc]
. How do you go about saving these?

-I save them to a photography folder on my hard drive. Then I copy them to a Memory Stick in a Folder called “Photos in February 08″ or “Photos in May 07″ or whatever, so I may be able to find them later on.

-I used to use the organizer on the photoshop programs [I used elements but you can also use lightroom] But I used to forget to back up my stuff, so I lost my photoshop elements program when my computer was eaten by a virus. I also lost the serial number and the CD. Oh well. No more organizer for me.

-Some people use CD’s. CD’s get broken way too often. Brothers, dogs, careless friends, etc. They’re so breakable and thin! I dont like em.

Pop Up Flash

Ok, I normally HATE HATE HATE HATE the pop up flash, it blows out faces, it causes red eye and is just a general nuisance to pictures. I only use that flash in emergency situations if at all.

-if you WERE going to use it, I’d get a lightscoop from lightscoop.com, its not very compact, but it makes the pop-up flash bearable.

-Or alternatively get some sort of pop-up flash diffuser planes from amazon.

I’ve tried putting tissues in front of the flash, its just a pain to hold em there. So, you should at least do SOMETHING to get rid of the harsh shadows if you were to use pop-up flash.
